For our next event, we've teamed up with the Cambridge Union for their debate on the 24th November, motion: "This House believes that the West is unprepared for the rise of China".

On Friday the 25th November, 500 attendees from Cambridge, Imperial, Kings and LSE, as well as many students from other universities will board the Dixie Queen, the largest party boat on the Thames, for an unforgettable night of entertainment and revelry!

A few key points:

The theme this year is "Moulin (Mulan) Rouge" which means dress code is Black Tie but with bonus points for attire that fits with the Burlesque / Oriental theme. Luxury coaches will shuttle Cambridge students to and from London so guests from Cambridge do not have to worry about getting there: we will leave at roughly 5pm and arrive back at 2:30am. A light dinner will be provided on the coach. You also do not have to be a member of ABACUS to come to this party (but members get tickets £8 cheaper whereas life membership is £10 - so consider joining!).

Over the next two weeks, ABACUS has two fantastic events lined up, as well as badminton and football sessions for members.

Dinner & Karaoke is a sure-fire combination that never lets you down. HK Fusion is one of our favourite restaurants; the food is certain to be delicious and karaoke is always fun, whether you decide to sing or just watch friends. A trip to Cindies might also occur afterwards.

By the 24th October, lots of new ABACUS families will have been created!! Newly joined Freshers will have been assigned parents from the higher years, and conversely members who got married last year will shortly receive some Fresher children. It's like magic! Family Formal is designed so that ABACUS families can get to know each other and perhaps even some members of their extended families too!

A new year brings new Freshers and this year is no exception!
So come along to the annual Freshers' Squash on Saturday 8th, 6-10pm at the Junior Parlour, Trinity College. Whether you're a Fresher or a seasoned ABACUS veteran, we'd love to see you there!

For those who are hungry, lots of food will be available at the price of £3/4/5. £3 for newly joined members, £4 for members, and £5 for non-members. First come first served though so don't arrive too late! Menu will include: noodles, rice, dumplings, stir fry, stew, and lots of snacks and nibbles.
