Sponsoring ABACUS

ABACUS Cambridge is a vibrant and active society with over 250 members based at the University of Cambridge. We organise lots of events and are therefore continually looking for sponsors and partners who are able to help us. The main options available are listed below:

Local Partners:
 
ABACUS Cambridge has always enjoyed much support from local businesses. This has usually come in the form of discounts given to ABACUS members or sponsorship of our events.
 
Typically, businesses have given our members a 10-20% discount which can be redeemed by showing an ABACUS membership card. A list of available discounts is sent to all ABACUS members every year to inform them of the discounts available and is always accessible on our website. This list is particularly useful for the new students who arrive each year in October.

Event Sponsors:
 
Sponsors of our events choose to do so in many ways - this ranges from cash sponsorship to providing the food or entertainment at the event. This entitles the sponsor to have their name and logo put on the promotional material and is very good for publicity. The details of this kind of sponsorship vary from event to event so it is best to get in touch with Christina Ye, the External Officer at wy228@cam.ac.uk. Events that can be sponsored include:

  • ABACUS Garden Party
  • Funkyard (Clubnight)
  • ABACUS Annual General Meeting
  • ABACUS Annual Dinner

Corporate Sponsors:
 
We believe that ABACUS is an excellent recruiting ground for your company.
Our members are mainly second-generation Chinese. This means that they speak perfect English as well as fluent Mandarin Chinese or Cantonese. This demographic is very employable: the long-term trend globally is towards even greater globalisation and internationalisation so the ability to speak two languages is a huge asset.

The package that we would provide comprises

  • Organisation of recruitment events - we can book the room, publicise the event and organise food and drinks
  • Publicity for your events - as we are such an active society, the reach of our publicity extends far beyond the confines of our membership
  • The ability to send emails to our members
  • Access to our events for your recruitment representative (enabling them to build a relationship with our members)
  • Publicity: your logo would feature on our website and on ABACUS publicity materials like our term card and membership cards. There would also be the opportunity to sponsor ABACUS clothing or other items.

To give an idea of cost, similar packages provided by other societies at Cambridge have cost in the region of £1500/year. Please email wy228@cam.ac.uk if you would like to sponsor us or to negotiate a custom agreement.
